St Andrew's College

St Andrew's College, one of New Zealand's leading independent co-educational schools in Christchurch, required a flexible seating solution for their new Culture and Sport Centre completed in August 2023.

Alloyfold designed and installed a custom 52-seat fully electric Axor™ retractable seating system featuring premium upholstered seats with Rhombus black fabric, motor-driven operation that transforms the venue in under 30 minutes, and safety features including self-stacking rails and non-slip edging.

The project, executed from January to August 2023 with Armitage Williams Construction, created a multipurpose space that provides open floor area for sports and events when retracted, and a professional performance space with excellent sightlines when extended.

The retractable system includes heavy-duty carpet deck finishes for enhanced acoustics, integrated side curtains for professional appearance, and comprehensive safety features with automatic operation.
